RAMANAN DISAPPOINTED WITH RAFIZI, SAYS HE APPEARS TO PROTECT CERTAIN PARTIES

25/03/2026 07:03 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Bernama) -- PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has expressed disappointment with former party deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, alleging that the latter appeared to be protecting individuals linked to the so-called ‘corporate mafia’ issue.

Ramanan, who is also Human Resources Minister, said Rafizi had frequently blamed government agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and raised allegations of money laundering without clear basis.

“What is his (Rafizi's) intention when he appears to be protecting the individual concerned? In this situation, he seems to be defending certain parties and is even willing to criticise the party to do so. What is his actual agenda?” he told a special press conference at the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre here today.

The Sungai Buloh MP also challenged any party, including Rafizi, to name him directly if they intended to link him to the issue, stressing that he would not hesitate to take legal action.

On the need for an internal investigation by PKR, Ramanan said there was currently no concrete evidence linking any party MP to the allegations.

“Rafizi appears to have drawn conclusions as though the matter has indeed occurred, even though no names have been mentioned and the facts have yet to be detailed. This creates the perception of an unhealthy agenda to divide the party,” he said.

Ramanan said that although he was not the individual linked to the issue, he felt compelled to speak out to clarify the situation.

“Rafizi is a former deputy president and a former minister who failed. When he makes statements and there is no response, it may give the impression that the allegations are true.

“Therefore, someone must step forward to clarify. We cannot allow this matter to continue and create suspicion,” he said.

When asked whether Rafizi was acting alone in the matter, Ramanan declined to speculate.

“There is too much speculation at the moment. I do not want to act like him by spreading rumours that could create false narratives. This matter requires facts, and the truth must be revealed based on evidence,” he said.
