KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- The role of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) is becoming increasingly critical in ensuring that accurate, balanced and credible information continues to reach the public, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
He said that in a rapidly evolving broadcasting landscape, compounded by global uncertainties and the surge of technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), RTM must fulfil its responsibility without compromising values and public trust.
“RTM must continue to lead by empowering local talent, elevating creative works, and leveraging technology ethically to remain relevant, credible and serve as a vehicle for nation-building.
“Happy 80th anniversary to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), an institution that has long been the voice of the people and the pulse of the nation,” he said in a brief Facebook post in conjunction with RTM’s 80th anniversary today.
RTM was established on April 1, 1946, beginning as a radio broadcasting station, while television services were introduced on Dec 28, 1963.
