PIAM ASSURES FLOOD VICTIMS OF SWIFT CLAIMS PROCESSING AND SUPPORT

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- The General Insurance Association Of Malaysia (PIAM) and its member companies have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting flood victims by providing timely assistance and expediting the claims process.

In a statement today, PIAM encouraged affected policyholders to review their fire or motor insurance policies to check if flood coverage is included.

"While standard policies may not cover flood damage, our members offer optional flood coverage," it said.

Policyholders are also advised to take photographs or videos of any damage to their property and belongings and contact their insurance provider as soon as possible to report the loss and initiate the claims process.

"Policyholders should also prepare necessary documents, such as proof of ownership, repair estimates, and receipts for any emergency expenses," it said.

PIAM noted that its member companies are prioritising flood claims to ensure timely payments, whereby several insurers have implemented expedited claims processing procedures and deployed mobile claims units to streamline the process.

“For comprehensive car policyholders, digital roadside assistance applications are available via phone and website, offering immediate support, including towing services. Additionally, our members have dedicated customer support teams to assist flood victims with their claims and enquiries,”  it added.

Among PIAM's members that policyholders can contact are AIA General Bhd, Allianz General Insurance Malaysia Bhd, Liberty General Insurance Bhd, and Etiqa General Insurance Bhd.
