KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- A team of volunteers from the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre extended assistance to residents of Taman Seri Alam, Saujana Utama, who were impacted by flash floods following the collapse of a water retention pond bund yesterday.
Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, said that more than 50 houses were affected. In response, he deployed a team of volunteers to assess the situation on-site and provide immediate aid to those in need.
“The Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of residents. We will work with community leaders and relevant agencies to implement follow-up measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Hopefully, all matters will be resolved smoothly,” he shared in a Facebook post.
Ramanan also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the rescue teams, including the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and other government agencies, for their swift response in alleviating the plight of affected residents.
Yesterday, Selangor JBPM assistant director (Operations), Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, said that the department received an emergency call about the incident at 5.15 pm.
The bund collapse caused water to overflow into the housing area, resulting in significant disruption. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities occurred.
