IPOH, March 15 (Bernama) -- A total of 50 single mothers from Pertubuhan Usaha Niaga Wanita Perak (PUNP) were honoured in the 2025 Ramadan Tour Programme held at the Department of Broadcasting Malaysia (RTM) Perak compound here today.
RTM Perak director Karim Sadiran said the programme, themed “Honouring Single Mothers in the Month of Ramadan,” (Meraikan Ibu Tunggal di Bulan Ramadan) aimed to appreciate the resilience and sacrifices of single mothers in their daily lives.
“In this annual programme, together with our main sponsors such as Petron Malaysia, Baba’s, NesQ, and Jasmine and Olive, we are celebrating 50 single mothers along with their 30 children.
“The sponsors of this programme have also contributed hygiene and personal care items worth RM180 per box, including towels, bath soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste and sanitary pads,” he said when met at the event.
He expressed hope that the programme would continue next year with more corporate sponsors coming forward to support the community.
Meanwhile, one of the recipients, Tun Syarilla Zainuddin, 50, expressed her gratitude for the assistance, saying it was her first time being honoured in such a programme.
“It is truly heartwarming to be celebrated like this. Besides meeting fellow members of PUNP, we also received contributions from the organisers. This assistance will be put to good use,” said the Ipoh-born mother of two.
