PM ANWAR VISITS, INTERACTS WITH TRADERS, VISITORS AT ASTAKA JALAN PADANG RAMADAN BAZAAR

CHUKAI, March 21 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took time off from his busy schedule to visit and interact with traders and visitors at the Ramadan Bazaar Astaka Jalan Padang, here today.

Anwar's arrival, accompanied by Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, was greeted with enthusiasm by traders and visitors to the bazaar.

Traders who were excited about the visit were also seen sharing sustenance with the Prime Minister including kuih ropa, nasi kerabu and satar. 

Terengganu traditional ‘kuih’ trader, Tengku Nurlisa Tuan Mohd Shamsir, 33, said she and her fellow traders were excited when they were informed that Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, would visit the bazaar.

"Alhamdulillah, I was finally able to meet Malaysia's number one leader face-to-face. God willing, this is a valuable experience that I will never forget. Earlier, PMX also wished me good luck in business. So that actually motivates me to continue doing business," she said. 

Meanwhile, Terengganu State Perwira Entrepreneurs Association (PUPNT) secretary Suliana Ali, who was given the responsibility to manage the bazaar by the Kemaman Municipal Council, said as the largest bazaar in the southernmost district of Terengganu, it brought together about 250 traders this year. 

Suliana said the bazaar also promotes sustainability efforts through the No Straw and Plastic Bags Day every weekend where visitors are encouraged to bring their own plastic bags.

More interestingly, she also said that this bazaar also collaborates with the delivery app which allows the public to make purchases online before the food is delivered by the delivery riders in the district.

The Prime Minister then attended the Terengganu State Level MADANI Iftar Ceremony at the Sultan Ahmad Mosque grounds.
