FADILLAH URGES COLLECTIVE EFFORT TO REALISE WST2040

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 (Bernama) -- All parties have been urged to play a role in realising the Water Sector Transformation 2040 (WST 2040) agenda, which aims to create a more sustainable and competitive water sector while serving as a catalyst for economic growth.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that WST 2040, launched in October last year, also prioritises ensuring a high-quality water supply, while advancing science, technology, innovation, and economic growth.

In a Facebook post, Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, emphasised that water is a vital resource essential for human needs, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development.

“From daily necessities like drinking and food preparation to agricultural and industrial use, every drop of water plays a crucial role in ensuring overall well-being.

“Without adequate water resources, life cannot thrive harmoniously, and ecosystem balance will be disrupted,” he said in the post, in conjunction with World Water Day, today.

Fadillah also stressed that every drop of water is precious and must be used wisely, as wastage not only impacts present lives but also jeopardises the well-being of future generations.

“Clean water resources are declining due to pollution and climate change, making it our shared responsibility to manage them efficiently and sustainably.

“Let’s work together to build a more sustainable future by preserving our water resources for Malaysia’s well-being. Happy World Water Day 2025,” he said.
