IPOH, March 23 March (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, accepted business zakat (tithe) payments totalling RM3,566,854 (RM3.56 million) from five corporate companies on behalf of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar, yesterday.
In a statement, MAIPk chief executive officer Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh said that the zakat handover was led by Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Mubarak Ali Gulam Rasul on behalf of the company with a contribution of RM1,499,192.
He said that Puncak Emas Infra Sdn Bhd, represented by its chief executive officer Mesnor Bujang, presented RM1,034,000, and the Royal College of Medicine Perak chief executive officer and campus head Hisshamuddin Omar handed over RM400,000.
"TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd, represented by TM ONE northern region business general manager Ahmad Nazri Ambi, contributed RM509,262, while Zaman Motors Sdn Bhd, represented by its director Datuk Khadri Khalid, handed over RM124,400," he said.
Syamsul Hazeman said the zakat presentation ceremony proceeded with an iftar event with religious officers and imams.
