KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- Engaging key tourism stakeholders, diplomats and industry players is crucial as Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
He said this aligns with the MADANI Government’s vision, ensuring that VM2026 not only attracts more tourists but also fosters sustainable bilateral tourism growth.
“This special Ramadan Iftar Evening - a gathering not only to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan but also to strengthen our partnerships, expand our networks, especially on fostering a deeper bilateral relationship. Through collaboration and mutual respect, we can further strengthen trade while enhancing tourism industries.
“Tonight’s event provides a valuable platform for open discussions, business connections and collaborative efforts to boost Malaysia’s tourism industry,” he said in his speech at the Ministry Of Tourism, Arts And Culture (MOTAC) ‘Ramadan Iftar Evening’ event here today.
Also present were MOTAC secretary-general Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Dr. Yasmin Mahmood and Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Manoharan Periasamy.
Tiong further emphasised the importance of fostering unity and harmony among people, urging everyone to respect one another.
“And only then we can achieve the stability of the nation and the peace of the whole world. This diversity makes Malaysia unique, and we proudly showcase it to the world through our tourism industry.
He said Malaysia’s rich heritage, culture, traditions and wellness retreats offer unique experiences that cater to the rising global demand for cultural and health-conscious travel.
“As we actively promote Visit Malaysia 2026, I urge ambassadors, industry leaders and business partners to collaborate in showcasing Malaysia’s tourism offerings.
“With strong public-private partnerships and cross-border collaborations, we can elevate Malaysia as a premier destination, ensuring long-term sustainability and global recognition,” he added.
