04/04/2025 06:33 PM

SHAH ALAM, April 4 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) will provide immediate aid of RM500 to each family affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire in Subang Jaya, including those who are not part of the asnaf group.

In a statement, LZS said victims can apply for the aid at https://lzspeduli.zakatselangor.com.my/kebakaranpipelinegas until April 15, adding that applicants are required to submit a police report or a verification letter from a community leader.

"Starting today, the ZASSS (Zakat Selangor Sana Sini) truck is stationed at Masjid Putra Heights as a temporary service counter to assist fire victims and their families in obtaining aid directly without visiting any LZS branch.

"Through the dedicated portal and the deployment of the ZASSS truck at the incident site, LZS ensures that access to aid is made easier and delivered promptly and effectively," the statement read.

LZS said the institution is also providing home repair, reconstruction, and rental assistance for asnaf who lost their homes, as well as disaster relief aid for non-asnaf victims.

LZS also expressed its commitment to protecting the welfare of the victims and working closely with the District Disaster Committee and relevant agencies to obtain a complete list of those affected, particularly among the asnaf group under the hardcore poor and needy categories.

"In line with efforts to support the fire victims, LZS is also inviting the public to contribute zakat through its CrowdZakat platform via https://crowdzakat.zakatselangor.com.my/portal-main/campaign-details/kebakaranpetaling

"The funds collected will be used to meet the urgent needs and support the long-term recovery of the victims of this tragedy," read the statement.

LZS said it cooperates with Masjid Nurul Iman and Masjid Putra Heights to provide cooked meals to the affected victims.

"The Petaling District Distribution Operation team has also been mobilised to the location to distribute dry food, essential supplies, and personal hygiene items at the temporary relief centres," it added.
