TAPAH, April 24 (Bernama) -- Voters' positive sentiment towards the candidate and strong arguments in refuting the opposition's claims are two 'political capitals' for Barisan Nasional (BN) to win the Ayer Kuning state by-election this Saturday.
PKR International Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad successfully answered various issues raised by the opposition at the Perak State Legislative Assembly session from April 15 to 22, which took place while the by-election campaign was in full swing.
"The people's sentiment is very good towards the candidate, in addition, the Perak Menteri Besar has successfully responded to various issues raised by the opposition...this strengthens the credibility of the state government and BN.
"Their (opposition) efforts to attack BN have not succeeded in achieving their goal," he told Bernama while assisting BN candidate Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir's campaign in Kampung Sungai Ranggas here, last night.
However, Shamsul Iskandar, who is also the PKR Hang Tuah Jaya division chief, stressed the importance of the strategy in ensuring a high voter turnout to achieve victory in the by-election.
The Ayer Kuning state by-election, which was held following the death of incumbent Ishsam Shahruddin on Feb 22, is seeing a three-cornered contest between Mohamad Yusri, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abd Muhaimin Malek and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) candidate Bawani KS.
