KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) through the Performance Improvement Coordination Unit (PACU) will organise the Sabah People's MADANI 2025 Programme (PMR) at the Tawau Municipal Council Square for three days starting May 9.
Themed Eradicating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship, the programme held in collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) and the Sabah State Government, reflects the government's commitment to addressing the issue of extreme poverty in a sustainable manner.
The MADANI Rakyat 2025 Programme Secretariat in a statement said this approach emphasises the empowerment of the people through entrepreneurship as a strategic mechanism to unlock income opportunities, create jobs and promote social mobility among rural communities and the B40 group.
"This approach is designed to improve the economic status while strengthening the well-being of the local community in line with the values of Malaysia MADANI.
"Through the implementation of this structured and comprehensive entrepreneurship programme, the goal of eradicating extreme poverty can be realised, thus building a more resilient future that is competitive and prosperous," he said in a statement today.
Throughout the programme, various high-impact activities will be highlighted to ensure that the benefits can be felt by all levels of society, including activities based on aspects of the people's well-being such as services related to the cost of living, health check-ups and social advisory services.
"In an effort to strengthen national harmony, the unity agenda is also emphasised through various integration programmes and the participation of multiracial communities," the statement said.
In addition, educational and career opportunities are also given attention through the organisation of Technical and Vocational Training and Education (TVET) programmes as well as Career Carnivals involving various agencies and private companies.
Sabah's PMR 2025 will also feature the participation of various Sabah state government agencies and leading ministries that also provide direct services to the people.
Also highlighted will be the state government's initiatives in an effort to eradicate poverty involving the five pillars of assistance interventions, namely Housing, Education, Employment, Welfare, Entrepreneurship and Training.
"This entire programme is complemented by the organisation of the MADANI Sale which aims to ease the burden of the people's cost of living by offering basic necessities at prices affordable," according to the statement.
The Closing Ceremony of PMR 2025 Sabah will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 2pm on May 11 which will also be attended by leaders from the Federal and state governments.
The public is invited to attend the programme from 9 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm.
