SEREMBAN, April 24 (Bernama) -- Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has called on all assemblymen to shoulder the responsibility of guiding the people towards a state that is united, peaceful and prosperous.

In his royal address at the opening ceremony of the First Meeting of the Third Session of the 15th Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, Tuanku Muhriz emphasised the importance of ensuring that all planned development projects are executed effectively and truly benefit the people.

“Always remember that the rakyat closely watches every action and decision you make. In today’s borderless digital age, information is readily available.

“Debate with rationality and intellect. Ensure that each argument presented is beneficial to the community and addresses the issues faced by the people,” he said.

Tuanku Muhriz also reminded all assemblymen to uphold, protect, preserve and defend the Federal Constitution and the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution at all times.

He further stressed the need for strict adherence to the Standing Orders during debates and throughout the assembly’s proceedings.

“Hold firmly to the principle of prioritising the people’s welfare and the state’s prosperity in every statement made,” he said.

In conjunction with the Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026, Tuanku Muhriz expressed hope that the state government would intensify efforts to promote the state more widely and generate a positive economic impact for the local community.

He said attention should be given to three key tourism segments, namely the beach resorts in Port Dickson, ecotourism and the cultural uniqueness of Adat Perpatih in every district.

“Negeri Sembilan is blessed with natural beauty and beaches that draw visitors daily. It is rich in heritage, customs and diverse cultural identity. Therefore, tourism is a sustainable and viable economic sector for the state.

“This is proven with the increase in tourist arrivals from 11.5 million in 2022 to 15 million in 2023, and that the state is targeting 20 million visitors this year -- a goal that aligns with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and TMNS 2026 campaigns,” he said.
