BUKIT MERTAJAM, Nov 28 (Bernama) — A total of RM80,000 in essential goods and food was sent to Perlis to be distributed to flood victims through the MADANI Ihsan Squad Humanitarian Aid Mission.
Penang Civil Defence Force (APM) Director Col (PA) Lokman Hakim Abdul Rahman said the mission was organised by the Seberang Perai Tengah District (SPT) Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), together with the SPT District and District Land Office and the Bukit Mertajam Parliamentary Civil Defence Auxiliary Emergency Response Team (CDA-ERT).
He said all the goods were donated by government agencies, corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and individuals, including mineral water, bottled water, disposable diapers, food and personal hygiene items.
“Perlis has been hit by a rather critical flood compared to the last 15 years, hence this mission was launched as a sign of concern from the SPT community in ensuring that the victims receive appropriate aid,” he said after launching the Ihsan MADANI Squad Humanitarian Aid Mission at the Jalan Berapit Central Mosque here today.
He said the items were sent using a container, accompanied by more than 20 people comprising APM members, district office staff and NGOs.
