PERAK, SABAH FULLY RECOVER FROM FLOODS, FEWER EVACUEES IN SARAWAK

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Perak and Sabah have fully recovered from floods as of 4pm with all temporary evacuation centres (PPS) closed and evacuees allowed to return to their respective homes, while Sarawak continues to record a decline in the number of evacuees.

In PERAK, the PPS at the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall in Hilir Perak, which had been sheltering four evacuees from a single family, was closed at noon today.

Meanwhile, in SABAH, Sandakan has also fully recovered from flooding, with 59 people from 24 families housed at the PPS of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Pertanian allowed to return home after floodwaters receded completely and their residences were deemed safe for occupation.

In SARAWAK, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) reported that as of 4 pm, the number of flood evacuees had decreased to 127 people from 60 families, compared with 132 people from 61 families recorded this morning, following the closure of the PPS at SK Angus, which had been sheltering five evacuees from one family, at noon.

Meanwhile, the PPS at SK Suai Niah continues to house 119 evacuees from 57 families, while the Malaysian Red Crescent Hall PPS is still sheltering four flood evacuees from two families, as well as four evacuees from a single family affected by a landslide.
