SPM 2025 LEAVERS URGED TO GRAB ENTRY INTO PISMP IPG- WONG

KAJANG, March 31 (Bernama) -- The 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers who meet the criteria are encouraged to continue their studies for the Bachelor of Education (PISMP) programme at Teacher Education Institutes (IPG) nationwide.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said applications for the 2026 intake are still open and will close this Thursday.

He said for this year, the intake quota for PISMP at IPG has been increased to 9,800 compared to only around 5,000 to 6,000 recruits in the past two years.

“We are further accelerating this recruitment to meet the needs in the field and for Chinese Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK), we, together with Dong Zong (United Chinese School Committees’ Association) and Jiao Zong (United Chinese School Teachers’ Association), are actively promoting this opportunity.

“Through this programme, SPM graduates who enter IPG will undergo a five-year study and from there in 2030 or 2031, they will be able to leave and become teachers for national schools, Chinese and Tamil SMJK in our education system,” he said.

Wong said this in a press conference after attending the announcement of the SPM 2025 results at SMJK Yu Hua here today.

According to PISMP application document issued by the Ministry of Education, among the requirements required is to pass the SPM by obtaining excellent grades in any five subjects and at least a credit for Malay, English and History.

Among the other requirements include not exceeding 20 years of age on June 30, 2026, being physically fit and active in co-curricular activities.

In the same press conference, Wong announced that the SPM 2025 results for the Chinese Language subject showed an increase of one per cent compared to last year, with a total of 40,888 candidates out of a total of 46,046 who took the subject successfully obtaining credits A to C.
