MADANI TUITION PROGRAMME HELPS TERENGGANU STUDENTS EXCEL IN SPM 2025

DUNGUN, April 1 (Bernama) -- Coming from a less privileged family, Azra Dayini Mazlan scored nine As in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination announced yesterday, with support from the MADANI Tuition programme.

The 18-year-old, whose father works as a security guard, said that her family’s financial constraints limited her opportunity to attend paid tuition classes like many other students.

The Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Paka student, therefore, expressed deep gratitude for being selected to join the MADANI Tuition programme last year, which was conducted three days a week, and covered core subjects such as Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, and History.

“I gave my full focus during the classes conducted by teachers at the school. My parents could not afford external tuition classes, so the MADANI Tuition programme was my only additional preparation for the SPM,” she said, when met at her home in Kampung Telaga Emas in Paka, today.

The third of four siblings obtained straight As in all subjects taken, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, Islamic Education, History, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The MADANI Tuition programme is an initiative by the federal government, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last year, as part of efforts to eradicate poverty.

Terengganu was selected as the pilot state for the programme, based on the outstanding performance of its students in public examinations.

Meanwhile, Azra Dayini said that she gave her full attention during lessons in class to ensure that she understood each subject more clearly and effectively.

“At home, I usually complete my homework and revise my lessons after Maghrib prayers, as most of my daytime is spent at school,” she said.

She added that her excellent results came as a surprise, as she had only obtained six As, two Bs and failed one subject in her SPM trial examination previously.

Azra Dayini, who aspires to become a doctor, plans to pursue her studies in medicine at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) or Universiti Malaya (UM).

“I want to prove to society that even though I come from a less privileged family, I am still able to achieve academic excellence, and realise my dream of succeeding in my future career,” she said.

Meanwhile, another student from the same school, Nur Sutera Suhara Mohd Azimi, 18, admitted that the MADANI Tuition programme greatly contributed to her success in obtaining A grades in all nine subjects she took.

The second of three siblings said that her father, Mohd Azimi Hashim, 53, works as a labourer and could not afford to send her to external tuition classes.

“Alhamdulillah, I made my parents proud with this achievement. In addition to the guidance from the MADANI Tuition programme, I always paid full attention in class, and revised my lessons daily at home,” said Nur Sutera Suhara, who aspires to become a lawyer.
