PKR POLLS: SHAMSUL ISKANDAR GOES FOR HANG TUAH JAYA DIVISION CHIEF POST

MELAKA, April 5 (Bernama) -- PKR International Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin is running for the Hang Tuah Jaya Division chief post in the upcoming party elections for divisions and their Women’s and Youth wings, scheduled for this month.

The Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister said he is offering himself in order to provide the best service to the people of the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency, as well as to prepare for the upcoming Melaka State Election, expected to be held next year.

"With my experience of previously running for the Hang Tuah Jaya Division chief post in 2022, contesting the Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat in Perak during the 15th General Election, and collaborating with Hang Tuah Jaya Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Adam Adli Abdul Halim, I am confident that I can offer the best service to the people," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after the Hang Tuah Division's Aidilfitri Open House held here last night.

The Hang Tuah Jaya division chief post is held by Mohd Rafee Ibrahim, who is also the Melaka PKR chairman.

On Jan 26, PKR Secretary-General Dr Fuziah Salleh announced that elections for posts in divisions and their Women’s and Youth wings would be held from  April 11 to 20l.

Meanwhile, elections for the party’s Central Leadership Council (MPP), Central Women’s Leadership Council (MPWP), and Central Youth Leadership Council (MPAMKP) for the 2025–2028 term will take place on May 24.

Commenting on the central-level elections, Shamsul Iskandar said he harbours the intention of contesting the post of Vice President, which he previously held in 2014, but said it would depend on the outcome of the Division-level elections.
