PAPAR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The Limbahau state constituency has continued to see development under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led government through the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) policy, said Datuk Juil Nuatim.

The GRS candidate for the seat in the 17th Sabah State Election said among the projects undertaken were the Ulu Kaiduan Bridge under the Kampung Angkat MADANI Programme in Kampung Kaiduan, benefiting 2,000 residents, and a suspension bridge near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kaiduan.

The Limbahau incumbent said he receives an annual allocation of between RM2 million and RM3 million to implement development projects and programmes in the Limbahau state constituency, including RM300 per month in Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat Sabah (Syukur) aid for eligible recipients.

“When I was in the opposition, I actually used the assemblymen’s allowance to lend a hand to people in need, because my manifesto was all about helping them,” he told Bernama.

In the agricultural sector, Juil said he would continue efforts to boost rice production in Limbahau by providing ploughing and harvesting machinery for about 1,000 hectares of padi fields in the constituency.

He said that in terms of human capital development, the Ministry of Education had approved the construction of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Gana, at a cost of RM129 million on a 12-hectare site in the state constituency.

Meanwhile, Juil said the Kogopon Water Treatment Plant (LRA) Phase Two, valued at over RM300 million, is also being implemented in Limbahau to address water shortages not only in the constituency but across Sabah’s west coast.

He added that the project, slated for completion early next year, will raise water production capacity from 40 million litres per day (MLD) to 80 MLD and will include the construction of a second intake point for the Limbahau Emergency Water Supply Scheme (EWSS) in Kampung Kabang.

To assist the B40 group, Juil said 80 units of SMJ houses have been built over the past three years, and the number would grow if he is given a new mandate in the election.

The polling day for the 17th Sabah State Election, involving 73 state constituencies, is set for Nov 29, while the early voting is on Nov 25.
