EFFORTS TO TURN PAPAR INTO SABAH'S NEW TOURISM HUB PROGRESSING WELL - ARMIZAN

PAPAR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Efforts to turn Papar into a new tourism hub for the state of Sabah is progressing well as many new developments are being implemented to boost the tourism sector in the district.

Papar MP Armizan Mohd Ali said among the projects being implemented in the district was the construction of two five-star hotels each in Melinsung and Kinarut.

"The construction of the hotel is sure to further boost the tourism sector in Papar, as well as stimulate economic growth in this district.

"But we have to make sure what attractions are here... what products can we use as an attraction for tourists to come and stay at the hotel," he told reporters at the Opening Ceremony of the Majestic Ballroom at 10 Star Cinemas, Parklane City Benoni Papar, here today.

The Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living said a lot needs to be done to realise Papar as a tourism hub, including the development of the hospitality industry as well as ensuring that other problems can be solved.

"We will ensure that protracted problems such as water, electricity supply, and road problems can be resolved to ensure that tourists are comfortable coming to Papar," he said.

Commenting on the event, Armizan said the Majestic Ballroom at 10 Star Cinemas could benefit the people of Papar.

"This ballroom can be used for various events such as seminars, weddings, and so on. We don't need to go to Kota Kinabalu anymore to organise programmes because we already have a good and comfortable place in Papar," he added.
