SEREMBAN, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- A Myanmar national was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today, with the murder of his fellow countryman at a workshop in Seremban last week.
Tha Hnin Sang, 19, nodded in understanding after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Nurul Farha Sulaiman, but no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
He is charged with murdering Cung Tha Lian, 25, at a workshop on Lingkaran Tengah Road, Seremban, between 8.46 pm and 11.41 pm on Oct 3.
The charge framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides for the death penalty or a maximum of 40 years in prison. If not sentenced to death, the offender may also face a minimum of 12 lashes if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Nik Nur'Aqilah Syarfa Nik Zaidi appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
The court set Dec 10 for the next mention.
