KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, has urged the Education Ministry (MOE) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Tindak Demi Anak Kita (TinDak) campaign modules in enhancing school safety through active parental participation.

The statement was issued following a recent rape incident at a school in Alor Gajah, Melaka, which Her Majesty views with deep concern.

“The Education Ministry should evaluate the effectiveness of the TinDak campaign modules in promoting a safer school environment, while also encouraging active parental involvement.

“I will also lend my support in this matter and have instructed Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to conduct a study on the impact of social media on students,” Raja Zarith Sofiah said in a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page today.

Earlier, the Queen granted an audience to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek at Istana Negara for a meeting that lasted nearly two hours.

Also in attendance were Education director-general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad, Education (Policy and Curriculum) deputy director-general Dr Rusmini Ku Ahmad, and Melaka Education director Mahfudzah Mohamed Noor.

Raja Zarith Sofiah recalled the launch of the TinDak campaign, overseen by the Johor Women’s League (JEWEL) in May 2017, which aimed to protect children from abuse and sexual harassment.

Her Majesty also urged schools to stay attuned to current trends, including students’ use of the internet and social media, and to review existing approaches to ensure they remain aligned with the evolving times.

During the meeting, the Queen expressed views on several matters, including student discipline, the role of Parent-Teacher Associations, and the influence of social media on students.
