TAWAU, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Health will use the allocation for dilapidated clinics to rebuild the Sungai Tamang Health Clinic, which was supposed to be built through the 11th Malaysia Plan allocation in Rolling Plan 1.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said about RM1 million to RM1.5 million of the dilapidated clinic allocation provided by the MADANI government will be used for the construction of the dilapidated Type 6 health clinic before mid-2026.
"I came personally to ensure (the construction of the clinic), we cannot wait any longer, it should be developed immediately with the allocation given by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the construction time is also accelerated,
"The Sungai Tamang Health Clinic has been operating since 1969, benefiting 25,000 residents, we continue to focus and improve facilities, especially in rural areas, this is what is meant by universal health coverage, with no one being left behind," he said.
He told reporters after officiating the new building of Sungai Imam Rural Clinic, Merotai here today.
Meanwhile, Dzulkefly said that among the improvements that will be made to the health clinic facilities on Pulau Sebatik include the need to supply ambulance boats and boats for the use by Ministry of Health personnel.
Meanwhile, he said the reconstruction of the Sungai Imam Rural Clinic which was once almost demolished now looks magnificent, which should be used as a benchmark because of the fast construction and no delays.
"This clinic has a new look from a wooden building to a concrete building, the old building was demolished on 1 April 2024 and the new clinic was built with an allocation of RM600,000 to operate on 31 Dec 2024, this clinic benefits 16,222 residents," he said.
According to him, he will also take a more assertive approach in the framework of repairing dilapidated clinics in Sabah and in general, Malaysia.
Meanwhile, he said that he and the Ministry of Health always focus on Sabah to improve the state's health development in line with bridging the gap in the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963
"I am focusing on Sabah, this is the seventh time I have visited facilities in Sabah this year, the most recent was two months ago, in August, when I visited the East Sabah district, starting with Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Beluran, Kunak, Semporna, Lahad Datu and finally Tawau," he said.
According to him, six areas involving 16 health facilities were visited as a focus to ensure that each health facility is able to provide the best service to the people, in addition to checking the welfare of health workers.
