KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Taiwanese electronic components manufacturer Ichia Technologies, Inc. has opened its second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah.

Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) said in a statement today that the RM490 million investment is expected to create approximately 600 job opportunities, with a strong emphasis on high-skilled talent.

“Spanning more than 55,000 square metres on a 4.45-hectare site, the facility incorporates automated production lines, Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled systems and artificial intelligence (AI) technology in line with Industry 4.0 principles.

“The advanced manufacturing capabilities will support the growing demand in key sectors while enhancing production efficiency and quality,” it said.

MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said Ichia’s decision to build its second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Kulim Hi-Tech Park will powerfully affirm Malaysia’s position in the electrical and electronic (E&E) sector.

“This advanced facility, focusing on printed circuit board (PCB), printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and components for the automotive and telecommunication sectors and incorporating Industry 4.0 technologies like AI and IoT, aligns perfectly with our New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) vision.

“The creation of 600 high-skilled jobs is crucial for developing local talent and strengthening Malaysia’s role as a strategic, resilient hub in the global E&E supply chain,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ichia Technologies Group chairman Huang Chiu-Yung said that the publicly listed company in Taiwan is a global leader in providing advanced integrated module solutions.

He affirmed that the ongoing restructuring of global supply chains, along with the challenges posed by the United States’ reciprocal tariffs, will make the new facility in Kulim a key driver for the group’s long-term sustainable growth.

“Malaysia will become the group’s second-largest manufacturing base, enabling us to continue delivering exceptional products and services to customers around the world,” he said.
