KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), through the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), is working with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to track down criminals involved in cybercrime based in Cambodia.

Bukit Aman CID director Datuk M Kumar said they received information from SPF about 27 Singaporeans and seven Malaysians involved in the syndicate, said to be responsible for losses of up to RM130 million.

“As such PDRM have and are carrying out actions to tack and detain all individuals involved, with the seven Malaysians having been listed in the wanted list for their arrest and further investigation,” he said in a statement today.

He also stressed PDRM’s continued commitment to strengthening international cooperation to tackle cross border crime that can threaten security and public order.

The SPF had earlier been quoted in a news report as saying that the syndicate impersonated government officials and was believed to have been responsible for over 400 fraud cases with losses exceeding S$41 million.

Joint enforcement with the Cambodian National Police on Sept 9 led to the arrest of 15 suspects, including two Malaysians, in Singapore and authorities then identified 34 remaining suspects.
