KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) preparations for duties related to the Sabah State Election (PRN) also takes into account the northeast monsoon (MTL) phenomenon, which has already begun, says Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
He said more than 9,000 police officers and personnel assigned for the 17th Sabah State Election — with nomination set for Nov 15, early voting on Nov 25 and polling day on Nov 29 — are prepared to face any eventuality.
“As we all know, the MTL is also expected to hit. Preparations continue to ensure that if rain or storms occur while the election is underway, we are ready.
“God willing, we will make the best preparations,” he said when met at a programme organised by the Kuala Lumpur Police at Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah, Presint Merdeka 118 here today, which was also attended by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus.
Also present were senior officers and personnel from the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor contingents, as well as independent preacher Habib Ali Zainal Abidin Al Hamid.
Earlier in his speech, Fadil said the programme was an initiative by Kuala Lumpur Police to engage with the community to foster and strengthen love for Prophet Muhammad.
