KEDAH APPRECIATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S BUDGET 2026 FOR PROVIDING BENEFITS TO THE STATE 

ALOR SETAR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The Kedah government today expressed its appreciation to the Federal Government for the Budget 2026 allocation announcement, which also provided benefits to the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said that several state priority projects were mentioned in the budget tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Dewan Rakyat last month,

“Alhamdulillah, the Federal Government’s Budget 2026 demonstrated its commitment to the development of Kedah,” he said when tabling Kedah’s Budget 2026 at the Kedah State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.

He added that one of the projects mentioned was the development of the Bukit Kayu Hitam Special Border Economic Zone, with an investment of RM2.7 billion, which is set to become a modern growth hub connecting the economic, energy and digital chains of ASEAN.

He said that several other projects were also approved, including the Sungai Karangan Riverbank Water Retention Pond Project and the Taman Selasih Eco-friendly Drainage Project in Kulim; the Kuala Kedah Waterfront Development and the coastal erosion project at Pantai Leman in Kota Setar; as well as the Sungai Temin and Sungai Bata Flood Mitigation Plans in Kubang Pasu.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Sanusi said that the Visit Kedah 2025 campaign, themed “Experience Kedah”, has attracted 5.2 million tourists as of October.

“Kedah Tourism has attained various achievements. Its participation in the World Expo Osaka 2025 successfully promoted Kedah’s culture, heritage and tourism, with the presence of 162,000 visitors at the Kedah Pavilion,” he said.
