SABAH POLLS: BN RESPONSIBLE FOR SPURRING DEVELOPMENT IN BONGAWAN, MEMBAKUT

BONGAWAN, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) has done an outstanding job of fulfilling its responsibilities in the Bongawan and Membakut state constituencies by implementing numerous development projects in both areas.

Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, who is also BN's candidate for the Bongawan seat in the 17th Sabah State Election, said the party has consistently produced the goods, especially in resolving the people's issues in terms of road facilities and dilapidated schools.

"I have brought so much development to the Kimanis parliamentary constituency, especially in the Bongawan and Membakut state seats. In terms of road infrastructure development, RM126 million has been approved for Jalan Bukit Mangis.

"This will have a major impact on the lives of residents in rural areas... in the Ulu Kimanis area, Ulu Bongawan area, Ulu Membakut area. This was something the people had waited for decades. So, I managed to do that…  resolve the people's problems,” he said when met after the nomination process for the Bongawan and Membakut state constituency seats at Dewan Kesenian Islam Membakut here today.

Mohamad, who is also Kimanis Member of Parliament, said that despite having held the Kimanis parliamentary seat for less than five years, he has managed to resolve eight issues related to dilapidated schools in the two areas.

He added that emphasis was also given to the youths, with the upgrading of all sports centres and courts.

"I have been doing this for years. If any children in the constituency want to study in universities, we will provide a one-off funding. Each student, irrespective of whether he or she is from the B40, M40 or T20 category, will receive a one-off educational aid to help ease their financial burden,” he said.

In the Sabah polls, Mohamad faces a nine-cornered contest, including former Foreign Minister Tan Sri Anifah Aman, who represents Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Anifah, meanwhile, is confident he can win the hearts of the Bongawan electorate based on the support he has received so far.

In a bid to woo the youths, the veteran politician said that GRS is committed to doing its best to provide employment opportunities so that they can fend for their families.
