OVER 900 SCHOOLS BENEFIT FROM MADANI ADOPTED SCHOOLS INITIATIVE - FADHLINA

NIBONG TEBAL, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Adopted School programme has had a positive impact and delivered clear benefits to participating schools, particularly in terms of strengthening facilities for 21st-century learning.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that to date, over 900 schools nationwide have been designated as MADANI Adopted Schools, in line with the government’s aspiration to give these institutions focused attention and make them part of the country’s broader education agenda.

“These schools are enjoying substantial benefits as all classrooms have been equipped with ICT facilities, enabling digital education programmes and policies to be implemented effectively. This is among our key initiatives to drive artificial intelligence (AI) and digital education in schools.

“The MADANI Adopted Schools initiative also encompasses teacher development, pupil activities, infrastructure and other programmes that support overall school development,” she told reporters after attending the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) MADANI Adopted Schools Asset Handover Ceremony at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Bakap here today.

Meanwhile, PSC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, who officiated the programme, said SK Sungai Bakap and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah were selected as the commission’s adopted schools based on their strong potential to become models for local community development, particularly in strengthening teaching, learning and co-curricular activities.

He said the selection was also driven by the need to upgrade educational infrastructure identified through field surveys, as well as by school administrators' commitment to improving students’ holistic performance.

“Through this programme, each school has received an allocation of RM100,000 for the procurement of assets, school beautification efforts, student education development and social services, including improvements to infrastructure and learning facilities.

“This includes upgrading computer laboratories, meeting rooms and school halls, as well as procuring ICT equipment such as smart boards, smart TVs, tablets, drone sets and robotics sets,” he said.

He added that the initiative focuses on creating a conducive learning environment and fostering close cooperation among government agencies to produce knowledgeable, competitive and well-rounded future generations.
