BANGKOK, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia-based cross-border e-commerce facilitator HYT Cross Border Sdn Bhd (HYT) is targeting sales of 23 million baht (100 baht = RM12.77) for Malaysian products following the launch of the Malaysia Halal Pavilion programme in Thailand.
HYT managing director Datuk Danny Tan said there are currently about 100 Malaysian halal products listed on the online marketplace, and the number is expected to increase to around 200 by the end of the year.
He said HYT is working closely with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), through its eBizLink programme, to help Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) expand cross-border trade and achieve measurable business impact in Thailand.
“We are targeting sales of 23 million baht within one year, in line with the increasing availability of Malaysian halal products in Thailand,” he told Bernama in an interview on Friday.
Tan said the programme has also engaged Thai influencers and content creators, and the featured Malaysian products will be available on Shopee and TikTok platforms.
“It is a platform to bring Malaysian products, brands, creativity and business opportunities closer to the Thai market,” he said.
eBizLink is a Malaysian government initiative managed by MATRADE to support SMEs in becoming digital exporters.
Earlier, Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah launched the Malaysia Halal Pavilion in Bangkok.
Wan Zaidi said the pavilion aims to facilitate Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in performing e-commerce exports.
“With the business world undergoing digital transformation, there is a significant opportunity for businesses to grow globally by leveraging e-commerce,” he said.
“The strategic collaboration between MATRADE and HYT Cross Border in today’s product showcase provides Malaysian manufacturers and SMEs with an opportunity to expand their presence across Thailand through e-commerce,” the ambassador added.
