JASIN, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The Merlimau Polytechnic (PMM) in Melaka continues to strengthen its regional mobility agenda and international strategic collaborations through the International Exchange Short Course 2025 (I-VESC 2025) – Nextbound: Global Exchange for Knowledge and Collaboration programme.
Now in its fourth edition, the programme, organised by the Internationalisation Excellence Committee (JKC) under the PMM Sustainability Cluster, focuses on building strategic partnerships, promoting knowledge exchange and fostering cross-cultural learning as part of efforts to enhance international cooperation in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
PMM Internationalisation JKC chairman Fadhillah Mohd Nasir said the programme, held at Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya (POLSRI), in Palembang, Indonesia, from Nov 6 to 19, serves as an important platform to expand academic networks and explore student mobility opportunities.
“Through I-VESC, students are not only exposed to cross-cultural learning, but also gain the opportunity to develop global communication skills, leadership and self-confidence through collaborative activities designed with our international partners,” he said in a statement today.
The PMM delegation was led by Deputy Director (Academic) Faridatuljana Mohd Noor, accompanied by five officers and 15 students from six departments, ensuring balanced participation across disciplines and providing global exposure in line with PMMWarriors values to develop a competitive TVET generation.
According to Fadhillah, the programme included courses on Communicative English and Effective Presentation, focusing on communication techniques and improving students’ confidence in using English.
He added that the programme also featured social responsibility activities at Pesantren Al-Amalul Khair, where students demonstrated TVET-related skills such as pipe fitting and bricklaying, and participated in gotong-royong activities, strengthening community ties while applying their practical knowledge.
Fadhilah said the highlight of I-VESC 2025 was the signing of a joint venture agreement between PMM and POLSRI, further strengthening the collaboration that has been ongoing since 2018.
The continued commitment between both institutions is expected to open more strategic opportunities in talent development, internationalisation and long-term collaborative initiatives that will benefit both academia and the community, he added.
