KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Selangor FC recorded their second consecutive win for the first time this season to maintain their challenge in the Super League competition after defeating Kelantan The Real Warriors (TRW) FC 2-0 at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium tonight.

The 'Red Giants' squad started aggressively before successfully scoring the opening goal through import striker Alvin Fortes in the 20th minute.

Selangor doubled the pressure when the second half started and the effort paid off when Brazilian import striker Chrigor Moraes blasted the second goal in the 54th minute.

The victory saw the squad, guided by interim coach Christophe Gamel, climb to fourth place in the Super League with 16 points, trailing league leaders Johor Darul Ta'zim (30 points), followed by Kuching City and Kuala Lumpur City FC who share 20 points in second and third place, respectively.

In KUCHING, Kuching City FC claimed an important victory to climb to second place in the league after defeating DPMM FC 1-0 in the clash at the Sarawak State Stadium.

The first half of the 'Borneo Derby' clash saw a balanced game with both teams launching dangerous attacks towards the opponents' goal but failing to find the net.

The start of the second half saw the home team continue to press the visitors' defence before finally scoring the winning goal through a finish by Ramadhan Saifullah in the 69th minute.

Towards the end of the match, the game heated up when DPMM FC player Prosper Boakye's goal in second-half injury time (90+1 minute) was disallowed following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.

The visiting squad's misfortune continued when Fairuz Zakaria was shown a red card for fouling Scott Philip Galang Woods at the end of second-half injury time.

Earlier, in SEREMBAN, Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) failed to capitalise on playing at home, drawing 1-1 against Terengganu FC (TFC), who were forced to play with 10 men at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi.

The visiting team suffered an early blow when Kyaw Min Oo was shown a red card for a foul on Jovan Motika outside the penalty box in the 15th minute, before NSFC managed to break the deadlock through a long-range goal by Luqman Hakim Shamsuddin in first-half injury time.

However, a lapse of concentration late in the game proved costly for the home team when Muhammad Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazili scored the equalising goal in added time, thus denying NSFC all three points.
