KOTA KINABALU, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- All 58 early voting centres for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN) closed by 5 pm today.
The centres were shut down in stages according to their respective locations and the number of registered voters, after having opened simultaneously at 8 am today.
A total of 24,426 voters were eligible to cast their ballots today, comprising 11,697 military personnel and their spouses, and 12,729 police personnel and their spouses.
According to Election Commission (EC) data, voter turnout stood at 91 per cent, or 17,333 voters, as of 3 pm.
This marks a significant increase compared to the 2020 State Election, which recorded an early voter turnout of 56.45 per cent involving 11,781 voters as at 3 pm.
All early voting ballots will be kept at designated police stations and will be counted after polling closes this Saturday.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 29 as polling day for the 17th Sabah State Election, involving 1.76 million registered voters.
