PM ANWAR MEETS TUARAN TRADERS, TAKES TIME TO HEAR THEIR CONCERNS

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today visited the popular Lokan and Kelapa Bakar stall in Kampung Salut, Tuaran, where he took the opportunity to meet traders and interact with the local community after an earlier engagement with community leaders and entrepreneurs.

Anwar said that he stopped by the stall together with Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor to meet the traders, greet visitors and hear firsthand about the people’s daily lives and challenges.

“In the midst of today’s packed schedule, I also had the chance to meet Aminah Sulaiman, who went so far as to rent a car just to convey her appreciation for the MADANI Government’s efforts in looking after the people’s welfare and well-being,” he said in a Facebook post.

The Prime Minister said that with the rollout of various aid initiatives under the MADANI Government, Aminah and the villagers no longer feel burdened by constant worry, knowing that the nation stands ready to extend a helping hand whenever they are in need.

“Prayers and hopes from people like Aminah strengthen my resolve, and that of the entire team, to continue working, refining our policies and ensuring that every household shares in the nation’s progress in a fair and equitable manner,” he said.

Earlier, a video went viral showing Aminah renting a car for RM200 just to travel to Sulaman and fulfil her long-held dream - one she had cherished since 1984 - to meet the Prime Minister.

“I am truly grateful. I performed sujud syukur (prostration of gratitude). I cried. I want him to remain as Prime Minister for the rest of his life. There has been no other Prime Minister who declines a salary - only him,” she said.

The Prime Minister had previously reiterated that he would continue his decision to forgo his salary for the post he has held since November 2022, as long as the country’s economy has yet to fully recover.
