KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 10 sports originally scheduled in Songkhla have been approved for relocation to Bangkok for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, slated to be held from Dec 9-20.
According to a post from the official Facebook of the biennial Games tonight, the confirmation of the relocation was confirmed during the meeting of the Organising Committee for the 33rd SEA Games and 13th ASEAN Para Games today, following flooding in Southern Thailand.
The meeting was presided over by Thailand Tourism and Sports Minister Atthakorn Sirilatthayakon and attended by Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, representatives from sports associations and related officials, among others.
“The primary agenda item concerned the relocation of sports and competition venues for the 33rd SEA Games 2025 due to severe flooding in the southern region of Thailand, which caused damage and impacted readiness, particularly in Songkhla Province, one of the co-host cities for the Games scheduled from Dec 9 to 20,” it said.
The 10 sports that will be relocated to Bangkok from Songkhla are muay, men’s football, chess, kabaddi, wushu, pencak silat, judo, petanque, karate and wrestling.
Meanwhile, the meeting also confirmed that billiards and snooker, which were supposed to be held in Chonburi, had now been moved to Bangkok.
