TEN SWORN IN AS SABAH CABINET MINISTERS UNDER NEW GRS GOVT

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Ten state assemblymen were sworn in before Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman today as State Cabinet Ministers in the newly-elected Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led government. 

Those who took the oath at Istana Seri Kinabalu here comprised seven assemblymen from GRS, along with one each from United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Heading the list was Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) acting president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, who is also the Kundasang assemblyman.

Also sworn in were GRS secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is Karanaan assemblyman, and UPKO president and Kadamaian assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick. 

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) vice-presidents Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif (Membakut) and Datuk Rubin Balang (Kemabong), PGRS information chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (Apas) and Sugut PGRS division chief Datuk James Ratib (Sugut) also took their oaths of office.

PBS secretary-general Datuk Julita Mojungki (Matunggong), Sabah UMNO secretary Datuk Jafry Ariffin (Sukau) and Melalap assemblyman Datuk Jamawi Jaafar (PH) completed the lineup of those sworn in.

Early Sunday morning, GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Sabah.

In the state election held on Saturday, GRS secured 29 of the 73 seats contested. 

Warisan won 25 seats, followed by BN (6), Independents (5), UPKO (3) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) (2), while Perikatan Nasional (PN), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) and PH won one seat each.
