JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- More than 100,000 Johor residents have registered for the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (e-COSS) application since it was launched in August.
Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said this made Johor one of the states with the highest number of users nationwide.
She said data showed that subsidised cooking oil purchase transactions through e-COSS in Johor recorded 1,920.20 tonnes from August 15 to November 18.
"Meanwhile, 1,770.52 tonnes of purchases were recorded through the manual registration method.
"This transaction volume proves the effectiveness of both methods in ensuring that consumers, including those without technological facilities, continue to have access to purchases without any obstacles," she told a press conference after the e-COSS Mobile Application Launch Ceremony at 55 Subsidised Package Cooking Oil Distribution Point Of Sales Supermarkets, at Mydin Mutiara Rini today.
She said the use of the application was believed to be able to curb leakage and thus reduce the number of complaints.
"So far, complaints about packet cooking oil have been decreasing, as the public has also filed complaints and we are quick to conduct inspections to ensure sufficient supplies," she said.
Lilis Saslinda was previously quoted as saying that apart from using the e-COSS application through scanning the quick response code (QR), another alternative is also provided, namely manual registration through a logbook provided by the supermarket.
She said the method, among other things, allows consumers who do not have a phone smart to have a chance to get subsidised cooking oil packets legally and in an orderly manner.
