FLASH FLOODS HIT SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN KL

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- Several areas in the federal capital were hit by flash floods this evening after about an hour of heavy rain.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Hafizan Hassan said the department received an emergency call at 6.55 pm, and 18 personnel from two fire stations were deployed to the affected locations.

He said the areas include Jalan Sentul Pasar in Taman Bahagia; Jalan Batu Bata in Titiwangsa Sentral; Jalan Haji Salleh in Sentul; Kampung Chubadak Dalam; and Batu 2½, Jalan Ipoh.

“The flooding was caused by overflowing water and has since fully receded. No casualties were reported, and there was no damage to property,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, social media users shared videos and photographs showing several parts of the city centre inundated during the downpour.

Among the locations highlighted were around Bulatan Pahang, Jalan Tun Razak and near the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, while several major roads in the city centre were heavily congested.
