Kajang, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate another 14-year-old teenage boy, feared drowned after falling and being swept away by a strong current with his younger sibling while trying to retrieve a ball from a large drain at Lorong 1/3A, Taman Prima Saujana, was temporarily halted at 12 midnight tonight.
Kajang District Police Chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the decision was made due to the increasingly dark weather and the swift river current, as well as for the safety of the SAR team.
"The operation has been ongoing all day with the assistance of the public and will resume at 8 am tomorrow," he said tonight.
He stated that the SAR operation, which began at 6:50 pm, involved the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and was assisted by local residents.
So far, one of them, aged 12, was confirmed dead at the Kajang Hospital after being found by the SAR team about two kilometres from the location where they were reported to have fallen.
