PUTRAJAYA, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has reinforced its commitment to being a government-linked company (GLC) at the forefront of efforts to uphold integrity and combat corruption through a strategic collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

This was expressed yesterday during a meeting between a delegation from Petronas’ Integrity Governance Unit (IGU), led by Group Chief Integrity Officer Mohamad Faizal Sadri, and MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at the MACC headquarters.

Azam, in a statement today, said MACC emphasised the importance of a comprehensive prevention approach, effective whistleblower protection and transparent handling of reports to foster trust and strengthen accountability within the organisation.

He also encouraged collaboration on capacity-building programmes and the sharing of best practices to ensure continuous improvement and ethical compliance, thereby positioning Petronas as a leading GLC in integrity and anti-corruption.

Azam also welcomed the invitation to attend the “Coffee With Integrity” session with Petronas’ top management next year to share MACC’s strategic vision and aspirations.

Meanwhile, Petronas reiterated its commitment to fostering a culture of integrity that goes beyond compliance, in line with the company’s aspiration to set new standards of integrity in Malaysia’s corporate landscape.

The meeting was held to seek MACC’s guidance in reinforcing ethical practices throughout the company’s operations and supply chain and to provide direction for Petronas in strengthening integrity across the organisation.

During the session, Petronas also presented updates of its various governance initiatives, including improvements to the whistleblowing mechanism, strengthened public-private partnership collaboration, leadership-driven awareness programmes and a five-year integrity and anti-corruption plan covering aspects of money laundering.
