NSFC MUST MAINTAIN POSITIVE MOMENTUM - COACH 

SEREMBAN, Dec 25 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) must maintain the character and discipline currently displayed to ensure the team can sustain its positive momentum throughout the second round of the Super League, said head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil.

He said the squad’s improved performance this season should be viewed in terms of progress compared with last season, especially as the team are now sixth in the league standings, compared with being among the bottom teams at the same stage last year.

“Our challenge is not really other teams, it is ourselves. We want to be better than last year. I know many are not too happy when we say we are still building, but building means we must be better than before.

“I think finishing the first round in sixth place is better than last season, our goal tally is better and tonight we kept a clean sheet. We must maintain this kind of character,” he told reporters after the match against Kelantan The Real Warriors (TRW) FC here last night.

In the match, NSFC collected full points after defeating Kelantan TRW 2-0, with striker Luqman Hakim Shamsudin scoring in the 36th and 49th minutes, placing NSFC sixth with 17 points while Kelantan TRW are 10th with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Kelantan TRW assistant head coach Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli admitted he was not satisfied with the results achieved by his players since taking over the team, despite improvements in performance.

“I hope the players realise the situation. Many changes need to be made and I hope they do not become too comfortable. Tonight we should not have lost because we have the same quality as NSFC. Our weakness is the attacking unit, which is unable to produce goals,” he said.
