EXPULSION OF BERSATU SENIOR LEADERS BEST OPTION - MUHYIDDIN

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- Disciplinary action against several Bersatu members, including senior leaders, is the best option at this time and was not taken arbitrarily, said president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the measures are part of the mechanisms enshrined in the party’s constitution to ensure Bersatu remains stable and strong.

Before taking disciplinary action, Muhyiddin said efforts were made to seek reconciliation and save the party through a series of meetings and discussions with the parties involved, but these attempts were unsuccessful.

“Some individuals have continuously sabotaged the party with the aim of creating divisions and undermining its objectives.

“As president and founder of Bersatu, I have a responsibility to ensure the party remains strong and stays on the right course,” he said in a statement after chairing a special supreme council (MPT) meeting here today.

Muhyiddin said he had also given positions within the party leadership to individuals known to oppose him, but actions in breach of the party constitution and disciplinary rules continued.

“Therefore, my colleagues in the Bersatu leadership and I are determined that the disciplinary processes outlined in the party’s constitution must be enforced to safeguard the party.

“This is a necessary measure and represents the best option at this time to restore unity and protect the party’s future,” he said.

He added that the MPT meeting agreed to appoint Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as deputy presidents.

As of yesterday, Bersatu disciplinary board has expelled 17 members, including deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, MPT member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Gerik MP Fathul Huzir Ayob, and Padang Rengas MP Azahari Hasan.
