KOTA BHARU, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, and the Sultanah of Kelantan, Sultanah Nur Diana Petra Abdullah, graced the 'Walkathon D'Raja Walk With Me 2026' at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here today, an event that drew over 10,000 participants.
Their Royal Highnesses arrived at around 11.18 pm to officiate the opening ceremony, which was also attended by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.
The royal couple then joined participants on a 3.2-kilometre walk to the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters and the Kelantan State Tourism Information Centre before returning to the stadium to conclude the programme.
Earlier at the opening ceremony, participants were treated to a spectacular drone performance featuring 350 drones in 10 formations, showcasing Kelantan traditions and culture, including gasing, ubi rebana, and wayang kulit, as part of efforts to promote the state in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Participant Rudeyhazle Che Ramli, 50, said he was thrilled to take part in the programme and walk alongside the Sultan of Kelantan, describing His Royal Highness as a ruler with his people at heart.
“Events like these not only help strengthen bonds, catch up with friends, and promote a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
Siti Annassalwani Kamaruzaman, 32, expressed her hope that the programme would be held every year to attract tourists and introduce the state’s culture and traditions.
