PUTRAJAYA, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- About 1,000 personnel from the Home Ministry (KDN), including staff from its agencies, attended a Majlis Penerapan Nilai-Nilai Murni or noble values appreciation session held in conjunction with the Ramadan month at the Setia Perkasa Complex here today.
The event, which began at 6.30 pm, featured a Ramadan tazkirah, a short religious sermon, delivered by Ustaz Marwan Bukhari A Hamid.
In his brief speech, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the ceremony highlighted several objectives, particularly the inculcation of values such as compassion, unity, tolerance and mutual respect, which should serve as pillars and part of the work culture of KDN personnel.
He said Ramadan teaches Muslims to soften their hearts through charitable acts such as feeding the poor and caring for orphans, as taught by the Prophet Muhammad.
He added that the ministry has also arranged various programmes with orphans and asnaf groups throughout Ramadan as part of efforts to reach out to and assist those in need.
The event was followed by congregational Maghrib and Tarawih prayers.
