KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- Muslims in the country are urged to make the Quran a guiding principle in life and a measure of truth when navigating humanitarian crises and the uncertainties of the modern world.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the holy book should not merely be read, but should shape the way people perceive and respond to the world, particularly in times of conflict and global humanitarian crises.

He cited examples such as the prolonged Palestine-Israel conflict, tensions in the Middle East involving Iran and the United States, as well as political power imbalances, climate change, social failings such as corruption, and the threat of slander arising from advances in artificial intelligence.

“The Quran is not just for reading, but for shaping the way we understand and engage with the world, directing us towards truth (haq) and away from injustice (batil).

“Only by adhering to the Quran and Sunnah can we be safeguarded from the misguidance of the world,” he said in a Facebook post in conjunction with Nuzul Quran, which will be observed tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said in a Facebook post that Nuzul Quran serves as a reminder that the rise of a nation begins with the strength of knowledge, faith, and moral character.

He said that in facing economic challenges, social change, and tests of unity, the Quran must continue to serve as a guiding principle and be applied in leadership, governance, and everyday life.

“I urge all of us to strengthen our relationship with the Quran, nurture families that value knowledge, and raise a generation that is ethical, resilient, and principled,” he said.
