PUTRAJAYA, March 27 (Bernama) -- All parties in the tourism industry have been urged to remain rational and reasonable in the current situation and not to take advantage of it by raising prices or transferring unreasonable costs that would add to the burden of the people and the market.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said that following this, he had instructed his team to immediately hold comprehensive engagement sessions with tourism industry players, including those from the tourism transportation sector and related services, to gather information directly and obtain industry feedback.

“This is aimed at a deeper understanding of the actual situation being faced by the tourism industry, including cost pressures, operational impacts and potential losses, so that every step taken truly meets the industry's needs," he said in a statement today in response to the pressures faced by the country's tourism industry following the global conflict.

According to Tiong, his team is actively communicating and holding discussions with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to examine the most appropriate and reasonable solutions to be implemented to help the industry navigate current challenges more smoothly.

“The MOF also expressed its support for coordination efforts being taken and will evaluate the overall impact and scope involved based on the data and information submitted by the industry to enable more targeted solutions to be formulated," he also said.

He added that the government prioritises the people’s welfare and the industry’s stability, and that all related measures will be introduced gradually after thorough evaluation and careful consideration to ensure the continuity of industrial operations while maintaining the country's economic development.
