KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- National men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and national men’s professional singles shuttler, Lee Zii Jia received windfalls of RM150,000 and RM100,000 respectively for their bronze medal victories in the 2024 Paris Olympics Games.

They received the incentive from 100Plus in a ceremony held at the National Sports Council, Bukit Jalil here today.

Marketing Director F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd Leong Wai Yin said the award was to express admiration for the determination of the country's representatives in fighting desperately to bring home medals for Malaysia.

"This is a special incentive that 100PLUS gives to our brand ambassadors. This is on top of what we have been given to them on their brand ambassador fees because they have fought with all their passion," he told reporters.

Meanwhile, Aaron-Wooi Yik is grateful for the incentives received and plans to have a big meal with the coaching staff and families who always support them through thick and thin.

"We have been with 100Plus for over five years and the contract is still ongoing. So, as an ambassador, we appreciate that we will continue to fight hard for more victories," said Aaron.

In this regard, Zii Jia said the incentive would assist him join three tournaments in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) calendar apart from working to attract more sponsors.

“Three tournaments alone cost RM100,000. I believe I need to show results first (to get more sponsors).

“When the results come, of course sponsors will come and money will also come. So, like I said I really appreciate what 100Plus is doing, not just the money, also for their support since I was 19 until today despite leaving Badminton Association of Malaysia,” he said.
