JASIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE AIMS TO NURTURE MORE SEPAK TAKRAW PLAYERS

JASIN, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Jasin Community College aims to nurture more sepak takraw players that can raise the level of the sport in the country, its director Mohamad Kelana Juwit said.

He said the move was inspired by the college’s sepak takraw team’s success in winning the Best Team Award at the Malaysian Community College Sports Awards last night.

“Of course everyone in the college is proud of the team’s victory, led by its coach Mohd Azuan Ali and it is a prestigious award, especially in sepak takraw, at the higher education institute and community college level in Malaysia.

"The win inspires the college to continue to raise the level of sepak takraw in the future,” he said in a statement today, adding that it would not only boost the college’s confidence in achieving success in sepak takraw but also in other sports.

Yesterday’s awards ceremony took place in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and recognises excellence in sports at the national and international levels.

The community colleges that received awards at yesterday’s ceremony include the Sandakan Community College (Sportsman Award), Kuala Terengganu Community College (Sportswoman Award), Tawau Community College (Sports Icon Award (Alumni)), Rompin Community College (Best Sports Coach Award), Paya Besar Community College (Best Sports Manager Award and Sports Coordinator Special Award), Kok Lanas Community College (Sports Internationalisation Award) and Langkawi Community College (Youth and Sports Officer Special Award).
