KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) — National women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah cruised into the round of 16 at the Arctic Open 2025 after defeating Denmark’s Natasja P. Anthonisen-Amalie Cecilie Kudsk in Vantaa, Finland, today.
In the round of 32, the world number two pair only needed 32 minutes to record a convincing 21-13, 21-14 victory over the world number 127 ranked pair in their first-ever encounter.
Pearly-Thinaah will next face Indonesia’s Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma-Meilysa Trias Puspitasari as they aim for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Following in their footsteps, national men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik also advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard 21-18, 21-15.
The tournament’s top seeds will next face compatriots Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong.
Another Malaysian pair, Choong Hon Jian-Muhammad Haikal Nazri also progressed after edging China’s Huang Di-Liu Yang 23-21, 22-20.
They will meet either France’s Eloi Adam-Leo Rossi or Scotland’s Christopher Grimley-Matthew Grimley in the next round.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King are scheduled to take on Sweden’s Mio Molin-Max Svensson early these morning.
