KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- The national mixed junior doubles pair of Loh Zi Heng-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan assured the country of at least a bronze medal when they advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 World Junior Badminton Championship (Oct 6-19) in Guwahati, India today.
In a quarter-final action held at the National Centre of Excellence, the top seeds of the eight-nation tournament displayed an energetic performance to defeat Indonesians Ikhsan Lintang Pramudya-Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine with a 15-10, 15-8, straight sets victory.
The national pair will meet Taiwanese pair Hung Bing Fu-Chou Yun An in the semis.
However, luck was not on the side of another national junior mixed doubles pair, Tan Zhi Yang-Nicole Tan who dug deep into their reserves but lost to the South Korean pair Lee Hyeong Woo-Cheon Hye, 15-17, 16-14, 6-15.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's men's singles campaign ended when Ayu Fu Sheng bowed out to Indonesia's Richie Duta Richardo 9-15, 9-15.
For the record, the Malaysian juniors ended their campaign in the last edition in Nanchang, China, with a bronze.
